Prior to BCMF being established, children who required surgery had their symptoms treated but llived either severely incapacitated lives or died prematurely. In 2009, BCMF established two additional programs designed for adults who require surgery or specialised care. These are the Burma Adult Medical Fund (BAMF) and the Burma Women Medical Fund (BWMF). The aim of these programs is to give people a chance to experience a healthy life by funding their medical treatment and restoring their health and dignity. BCMF strongly believes that everyone has the right to healthcare and strives to provide that opportunity to the people of Burma.
